Who we are
We are a diving club based in Highworth, near Swindon.
We were formed in the late 1970s and are the only diving club in the area. We offer a friendly environment with fully qualified coaches supported by a dedicated committee, committed to teaching springboard and platform diving in a safe and fun environment.
The club is affiliated to Wiltshire County Swim England and Swim England South West Region. All divers are registered with the Swim England on joining the club and are fully covered by the association’s insurance scheme.
The club moved to our new home at Highworth Recreation Centre in September 2008, changing our name from TDC Swindon to reflect our new location.
What we do
Monday Sessions
Sessions are 45 minutes each. Divers will be taught in groups of no more than 6 with others of about the same ability. Sessions follow the Swim England award scheme and assessments are made when divers may be moved to a different or higher group. For the more talented diver there is the chance for competitions.
Development Squad
This small group is run on a Wednesday for committed divers who wish to compete at County level and above. Occasionally coaches may invite divers to this session in preparation for competitions. Adult/Masters divers may also attend the pool session.
Competitions
We compete in many competitions throughout the year. Depending on ability, there is something for everyone, from friendly inter-club events, County Championships to National competitions. See the diary on the noticeboard for dates.
Children in Need/Betty Head Challenge Trophy
This event held in November is in memory of Betty Head, a former teacher, secretary, treasurer and president of the club and all beginner divers from the club and Rec lesson programme are invited to take part. Medals are awarded to the top three in each category and all divers receive a certificate. All proceeds go to Children in Need.
Dive Camps
For more advanced divers, there may be the chance to take part in a training camp in Southampton during school holidays.
Training camps are also run by Plymouth and Crystal Palace Diving Clubs.
